- What is a bloodline family tree?
- A bloodline family tree traces the direct line of descent that connects a person to their ancestors or descendants, rather than every aunt, uncle, cousin, and in-law. Blaadline draws it as a male line: the selected person's father, his father, and so on upward, each beside his wife, with the selected person's descendants below.
- What is the difference between a bloodline tree and a family tree?
- A standard family tree includes everyone in a kinship network: in-laws, aunts, uncles, step-siblings, and cousins. A bloodline tree narrows the focus exclusively to the direct line of consanguinity (blood relation). This produces an uncluttered chart that is easy to read and to frame.
- Can I trace both paternal and maternal bloodlines together?
- In the standard view, the chart follows the father's line. Mothers and grandmothers on that line appear beside their husbands, but their own parents are not drawn there. To follow a mother's side, click her: the tree redraws from her point of view, up her own father's line. For both sides at once, the Premium Pedigree template draws both parents' ancestors together.
- How many generations can I include in a printable bloodline chart?
- There is no generation limit. What fits on a page depends on how many people the drawn line includes, not only on generations: a line with a few children in each generation fits on A4, while a large family reads better on A3, A2, or A1 with Premium. Full-tree export always fits the drawn line onto the page, so check your browser's print preview before printing.
- Can I export my bloodline chart to print at a local print shop?
- Yes. Blaadline exports a standard vector PDF. Because vectors are shapes and text rather than pixels, a print shop or copy shop can print it on large poster paper without blurring.
- Is my personal bloodline information kept private?
